As well as the usual pub classics, there are usually 2 or 3 other fish dishes, steak, duck and game, plus an extensive range of vegetarian dishes such as traditional cauliflower cheese to bean and pasta specialities. Many ingredients are sourced locally which means the menu varies with the seasons. They offer fresh fish, game and prime local meats and good local ales. The Fox & Goose Parracombe has to be our favourite place to eat. Click on the individual places to visit their websites.

I hope to visit again soon to see how this landscape changes with the tide.Nutcombe Holiday Cottages are close to some great places to eat. We visited at the end of the day, with the tide out a long way. It's not a theme park, although it was closed to visitors at the time, due to the Covid pandemic.Īs with all of these coastal locations, it's wonderful to see how the landscape changes at different times of the day, different seasons, and different tides. The castle is almost 200 years old, and part of the fabric of the landscape. Looking back towards the harbour you get a view of where you started from, with Watermouth Castle on the hill behind you.

The cream teas looked pretty good too(maybe next time!).īehind the cafe is a footpath that take you out onto Sexton's Burrows, a beautiful outcrop that takes you along the harbours edge, and out onto the peninsula with beautiful views across the surrounding coastline, and towards the Hangman hills that look over Exmoor and Combe Martin. We sat on the beach and enjoyed our refreshments. This is a natural secluded harbour, halfway between the seaside fishing town of Ilfracombe, and the village of Combe Martin to the north.īefore we set off on a little stroll we had a coffee and a delicious slice of Coffee and Walnut cake from the Storm in a Teacup cafe, a cafe that was shaped out of a boat on the harbours edge.

These pictures were taken around the harbour of Watermouth Bay. Here's some pictures from a lovely part of the North Devon coastline, fresh from my visit last week.
